Nicki and her husband Rick spent the first nine years of their marriage living in Germany and various U.S. states while he served in the Army. They returned to Montana in 1976 and founded their benefit administration business, EBMS, in Billings in 1980. Throughout their careers, they served on nonprofit boards and supported causes they are passionate about, particularly education and children's services.

They began visiting Cabo in the late 1990s and purchased their first home in Pedregal, Cabo San Lucas, in 2003. In 2013, they moved to Puerto Los Cabos in San José del Cabo.

For many years, they have supported LigaMAC and other local charities focused on children, families, and education.
